Autumn’s Canvas

The first few weeks of every October in Iowa provide an unfolding a visual treat.

Moving southerly across the state, Autumn colors arrive in vivid waves, painting a canvas of crimson, orange and gold across the horizon.  Once you start walking amongst the colors, it’s easy to lose yourself, mouth agape, looking up at an exploding technicolor canopy.

I’ve spent some time in recent days chasing light, color and composition across one of the most beuatiful places in Iowa– the campus of Iowa State University in Ames.  I was hired to capture the color waves, so I busted out my favorite fleece, my walking shoes, a bag of gear and the hunt for Fall’s palette was on.  My kind of office.  See a full gallery of 66 images here.
