"What better way is there to honor the flag than to have it with you all the time?" says Duncan Brayden of Des Moines west, as he travels along East University Avenue to visit a friend Monday, January 16, 2006. Brayden, a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Forrestal, says he rarely ever removes the American flag from his wheelchair. He says it serves a dual purpose - to display his patriotism and to help motorists see him as he travels along busy roadways.
