Verle Lubberden, 88, right, of Oskaloosa was in a battle on the drive to Strasbourg, France in World War II when his left leg was hit and his twin brother, Virgil, left, helped patch him up. The next day, Virgil was also hit in the left leg. They woke up the next morning in neighboring hospital beds.
